Broadway in Denver is home to some of the most spectacular shows, such as Pippin and The Book of Mormon. Broadway is the median street in Denver, dotted with neighborhood taverns, unique restaurants, vintage apparel stores, art galleries, and bookstores. Broadway is also known as the “Antique Row,” with almost 100 antique stores packed into only eighteen blocks.
Guest Article by John Truman: You’ve been hearing from your friends how effective CBD oil is for their wellness. Some of them claim that they were able to lessen chronic pain linked to arthritis and control their appetite because of CBD oils. They even told you that these oils helped them clear acne in different parts of their body, reduce their anxiety and boost their immune system. With all of the positive feedback you’re getting, you’re almost tempted to use CBD oils. However, one thing is stopping you – you don’t know if this is legal to use.
Research shows medical use of marijuana useful for reducing chronic pain, anxiety, nausea, symptoms of auto-immune diseases such as MS, Parkinson’s, RA and neurological problems after stroke, spinal chord injury, also cancer and Alzheimer’s. Medical marijuana is legal in 16 states with 12 pending and Washington D,C., As of April 2017 twenty-nine states all together. Some states have passed legislation and are waiting to set up dispensaries. Here is the break down on locations where it is used and the latest research. States regulate its use according to accepted illnesses or injuries.
Marijuana can be a good treatment for acute pain, nausea and loss of appetite due to chemo-therapy and possibly to ease other addictions and chronic pain from arthritis, MS or cancers. But long term use of any substance challenges the liver. If the result is dry mouth, chronic fever, yellowish complexion, irritability, blood deficiency or chronic inflammation – then marijuana – like smoking damages health.
As of February, 2012: The states painted dark green allow medical prescriptions of marijuana to treat health conditions, including pain, nausea and loss of appetite for cancer, HIV, arthritis, MS and other diseases determined state by state. For details also see: http://www.health.com/health/gallery/0,,20345389,00.html Light green represents states with marijuana-friendly laws or pending legislation. Alaska and Hawaii (not pictured) allow medicinal marijuana. Though only 15 states currently allow medicinal marijuana, other states have legislation in the works or marijuana-friendly laws. These states include Alabama, Arizona, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland (allows a medical-use defense in court), Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Virginia. There have also been petition drives in South Dakota and Florida, but nothing has been added to their state ballots.
NY Times: Researchers from around the world are gathering this week in San Jose, Calif., for the largest conference on psychedelic science held in the United States in four decades. They plan to discuss studies of psilocybin and other psychedelics for treating depression and addictions. Could medical use of mind-altering hallucinogens and pain-reducing marijuana someday end the drug wars? A pleasant thought. But, that may be thinking too fast and too much about medical profits. Besides marijuana has harmful side-effects for lungs, heart, energy and mental clarity. Start with spring cleansing: Bitter greens like nettle, dandelion, neem and oregano help eliminate more than complexion problems. They enhance energy, breathing, and thinking. Olive leaves make a powerful tea for energy and immunity. Olive leaf tea protects the heart. One of the great things about being an herbalist is the exciting new taste discoveries I make. This spring, I love olive leaf tea flavored with rose petal preserve. I found for $8 a 19 oz. jar of Harvest Song tea rose petal preserve at Kalustyan’s (Lexington bet. 28th and 29th st.)
