Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said that the US National Veterinary Services Laboratories had confirmed the presence of 2009 pandemic swine flu in a pig sample collected at the Minnesota State Fair. But that infection of a fair pig does not mean commercial herds were infected because show pigs and commercially raised pigs are kept separately. “We have fully engaged our trading partners to remind them that several international organizations, including the World Organization for Animal Health, have advised that there is no scientific basis to restrict trade in pork and pork products,” said Vilsack. “People cannot get this flu from eating pork or pork products. Pork is safe to eat,” he said. Alright, but remember Babe the movie about the pig that talks? He was so cute and sweet. What is good about eating such a fat meat anyway? Here is the movie trailer. Delightful.

Trudeau, the one with the Health Secrets books, maintains that pig meat is bad for our health, and not only because it is fatty. Anyhow, pigs are highly intelligent animals. There are many people lately who have them as pets. Do they also have an eggs and bacon breakfast?
Welcome back to New York, Letha. Oh, why did it have to be this Friday? We are like ships passing in the night. But one of these days I hope to catch one of your seminars. This one looks very interesting. Alas!
