Dec. 13, 2012: Soon we may see more dogs in hospitals. “A 2-year-old beagle named Cliff may hold the key to preventing an infection that kills thousands of Americans each year.
Researchers in the Netherlands taught Cliff to sniff out the intestinal bacteria Clostridium difficile(C. difficile or C. diff) in stool samples from infected patients and even from the patients themselves.” This is good news for dogs and dog-lovers everywhere.
There is an earlier article at this website reporting how a trained beagle can sniff prostate cancer in men. Another good approach is prevention. For superbugs, clean, clean and clean more, clean the bed linen, entire bathroom and clothing of infected people with hot water and detergent. Spray the room air with water and hydrogen peroxide. To help prevent prostate cancer see articles here and in my book Feed Your Tiger describing the “broccoli cure,” proven effective with research.
