Americans especially those without health insurance who cannot afford medical care are skipping medical testing, using drugs they have hoarded, and are trying to ignore their health. It is a sad state of affairs when citizens cannot afford to stay healthy. To make things worse, drug companies now avoid creating and testing new antibiotic drugs because of their low profit margin. New drugs regularly appear for diabetes and heart trouble but we lack adequate medicines to fight superbugs. Hoarding outdated drugs cannot protect us against the rapidly increasing incidence of infections. Hoarding drugs for pain and depression do not get to the root cause of our troubles. We must build immunity, energy, and confidence with a natural approach.
Superbugs are on the rise. Warmer climate and intense crowding of population leads to increased illness. When was the last time you thought about the health of the last person to take your cab? When was the last time you worried about who used your gym locker? Germs do not play favorites. If I am sick you are sick. Here are a few foods/herbs to help build immunity throughout cold/flu season and beyond.
Astragalus – According to JAMA increases T cells, improves energy, strengthens waist and legs. Has been used to help prevent cancers. Take 4 – 6 capsules daily between meals. Simmer sliced dried astragalus (huang qi) for at least 1 hour, drink the liquid between meals. Reuse the slices twice.
Reishi mushroom – highly nutritious, has been used to treat inflammatory arthritis, lower harmful cholesterol, help avoid cancers
God made green and yellow vegetables to help keep us safe and strong. Remember broccoli, kale, dandelion, kelp, squash, pumpkin, yams. According to Dr. Ibrahim Saracoglu, broccoli water can help prevent prostate pain and swelling and it contains enzymes that prevent/treat cancer. Simmer a handful of fresh organic broccoli in water for 20 min., drink the water without spices or sweetener first thing in the morning, avoid eating for 1/2 hour. At the very least it clears complexion and eases digestion by reducing harmful acids.
