Many people, especially overweight men over age 40 grow large in the middle and have trouble breathing. They may develop chronic indigestion or heart troubles, including heart failure, from lack of exercise and a diet too rich in the wrong fats and too many sweets. The result is low energy, poor concentration, depression and sometimes a temper like a pressure cooker. Here is a TCM treatment you can duplicate at home with massage and diet.
Today we visited our favorite acupuncture doctor Lili Wu on W. 24th st. and Brooklyn. I took Michael my heart patient. His sugar and triglycerides are too high. He has a Big Sweet Tooth and is over weight making it hard to move in cold weather. Lili used 2 points in the head, one at the top center of the head the other between the eyes – the needle pointing downward toward the trunk. The ear points she used are shen men for calming the nerves, the point in the center of the ear to open up circulation in the chest and abdomen, the point at the bottom of the ear to help balance water retention and hormones.
A very successful treatment to get circulation flowing from head to foot. Lili also said this season especially eat daikon radish, add it sliced to soups and eat it cooked which is easier to digest, less spicy and irritating for the stomach and it “cleans away the junk that should not be there” i.e., the mucus congestion that slows digestion. A very good detox treatment that will help him breathe.
